Zumtobel and Impact Acoustic Forge Strategic Partnership: A Unified "Light + Sound" Solution to Redefine Indoor Spatial Quality

September 9, 2026 — Austrian lighting company Zumtobel Lighting GmbH (headquartered in Dornbirn) and Swiss acoustic solutions provider Impact Acoustic AG (headquartered in Lucerne) have announced a strategic partnership. The two companies will integrate their capabilities in lighting, acoustics, design and system integration to deliver unified solutions for indoor spaces worldwide, comprehensively enhancing acoustic and lighting environments, functionality and aesthetics — and thereby improving the quality of spaces where people work and live.

Under the cooperation agreement signed in August 2026, the two companies will offer architects, interior integrators and specifiers "single-source" services: covering both standardized integrated solutions and custom (Special) solutions, as well as integrated consulting services spanning lighting and acoustics.

Integration at the Design Source: Lighting Designed with Acoustics in Mind, Luminaires Built into Acoustic Systems

The core of this partnership lies in process integration. Zumtobel incorporates acoustic considerations at the very earliest stage of lighting design, while Impact Acoustic integrates selected Zumtobel luminaires into its digital spatial planning system. The resulting "light-sound synergy solutions" significantly streamline project design processes, enabling truly integrated delivery of holistic spatial design — rather than lighting and acoustics being tendered separately and cobbled together on site.

Sustainability: A Shared Foundation

The two companies are closely aligned in their circular economy philosophy. Zumtobel develops new products in strict compliance with its Circular Design Rules (CDR), and since March 2026 has offered a Remanufacturing service — refurbishing existing lighting systems and providing new manufacturer's warranties to extend asset lifecycles.

Impact Acoustic is regarded as a pioneer in circular acoustic solutions: its products use recycled and renewable raw materials, are designed from the outset for durability, repairability and recyclability, and take a holistic view of materials, products and the entire lifecycle. Its ARCHISONIC® Natura is the world's first cellulose-based acoustic material, enabling a closed material loop; the accompanying Re recycling programme ensures that PET-based and cellulose-based acoustic products can be recovered and returned to the material cycle at the end of their service life.
